About the Show Info Box

Daniel and the Dixieland Diggers was an animatronic music show located on Town Square of Main Street. It was replaced in 2000 by the Town Square Carousel.

Per the 1983 Adventureland guidebook, the show featured five animatronic animal characters performing Jazz music. That guidebook called them “Daniel and the Dixie Diggers” which may have been the original name. The photos from 1996-1999 show the piano saying “Dixieland” so maybe the name changed later?

From the manufacturer’s website, the show is described as:

“The best Dixiland (SIC) jazz and old-time music around! Available as a five-piece band with Daniel T. Bones, Colonel Beauregard, Scratchmo, Sir Percival Perry and Huckleberry Hound, or as a trio with Daniel, Col. Beau and Scratchmo.

Sally’s most popular animatronic musical performers were featured in numerous locations including Celebration Station and Mark Twain’s Riverboat Showhouse performing regular shows and birthday parties.”

Trivia

Daniel lives!

The animatronic show was an off-the-shelf product, and there are still copies of it performing today in pizza restaurants. YouTube has many videos of it. There seems to be configurations with only three characters, as well as more characters like Adventureland had.

More robots!

This show featured the most animated characters, but they aren't the only ones. At the front of the Palace Theater is P.T. Barnaby, a human animatronic. Inside the Underground are several other human characters.
