Monster is a looping steel coaster in Iowa Farm. It opened on June 4, 2016. It is currently the fourth roller coaster operating at the park (counting The Underground, which is technically a roller coaster). It became the park's second steel and looping roller coaster after the Dragon.
The coaster features a 90 degree lift hill straight up, and is 133 feet tall. It then goes down a 101 degree drop (flipping back inside). It reaches a top speed of 65 mph. There are 5 inversions and 2500 feet of track.
It contains an elaborate nighttime lighting system designed by KCL Engineering of Des Moines. Along the track are 137 40-watt RGB LED spotlights, and there are 46 500-watt RGB LED spotlights on the ground. If all the lights were turned on to bright white at the same time, it would be 28480 watts. (And this is using LEDs. Imagine how much power it would take if they were all traditional spotlight bulbs.)
This coaster is also notable for having some of the most threatening warning signs to appear in an amusement park - but not because of the ride. The ride warning signs are typical, but around the ride are warning signs to prevent guests from climbing the fence to retrieve dropped articles. They read:
WARNING Barbed Wire BARBED WIRE RISKS SERIOUS INJURY. DO NOT JUMP FENCE - GO BACK NOW! LOST ITEMS RETURNED THE NEXT DAY. VIOLATORS WILL BE EJECTED FROM PARK! (STOP) CUT YOUR LOSSES...GO BACK!
These signs started appearing around July 6, along with the addition of barbed wire along the inside fencing around the coaster. There are currently over XX of these signs. Adventuerland is serious about preventing someone from doing something foolish.
