May 31, 2021 - Happy 46th Anniversary, Adventureland!

May 31, 1975 - Official grand opening. Congressman Neal Smith, Altoona Mayor Lloyd Sievers and Adventureland President John Krantz spoke at the opening ceremony. (But parts of the park opened in 1974.)

Sky Ride (aka Sky Seats when it opened) is a ski lift ride with stations located in Bavaria and next to County Fair. It opened in 1975. The current clock queue building in Bavaria was not added until 1976. Opening year photos show just the metal frames holding up the cable pulley system.

In 2009, the exit of the Bavaria station was change to make it more accessible for those with special needs.


1974 World's Fair

The Sky Ride formerly operated in Spokane, Washington at the World's Fair in 1974.
