May 31, 2021 - Happy 46th Anniversary, Adventureland!

May 31, 1975 - Official grand opening. Congressman Neal Smith, Altoona Mayor Lloyd Sievers and Adventureland President John Krantz spoke at the opening ceremony. (But parts of the park opened in 1974.)

Dragon Island originally opened as Riverview in 1980. In 1990, it was rethemed and renamed to Dragon Island when The Dragon steel roller coaster was added.

Dragon island is currently one of only two sections of the park that have clearly marked signs at their entrance indicating the name of the area.


Riverview Remnants

The lamp posts and Mirror Maze mirrors were originally at Riverview Park.

The nearest restrooms are back across the bridge next to the Lighthouse, or inside Outlaw Gulch in the Mercantile building.
